Import Foods and Ingredients using a CSV File

You can import hundreds of foods/ingredients into Foodzilla using a CSV file.

To get started, download our CSV template file and fill in your food data following the format below.

Prepare the CSV file

Please note that the nutrition information must be entered for a 100-gram measurement.

Number values can be zero, a decimal number, or a whole number. If the value of a nutrient is unknown, leave it empty.

The following values are valid 🆗 :

  • 23.5

  • 30

  • 40.0

  • 66.485

The following values are invalid 🔴 :

  • 0g

  • five

  • 32 grams

The following table explains what each field does and the expected format in order to import foods correctly. Name is the only required field.

Note: do not change the field names or add new ones.

Import Foods

Once the data is ready to be imported, go to the Food Data tab and click on the Import Foods button. After that, upload the CSV file you prepared earlier and click "Import Foods".

Once the foods are imported, you will be notified with a popup to tell you how many foods have been imported and that you can view them from Food Data and select your database (your food database name matches your business name).
